Past Evening-Length WorksSarah Bush Dance Project presents: (In The Wake Of) HOME excerpts from HOME and TWO
HOME covers territory from the physical space of a “residency” at Shotwell Studios to the internal space of “feeling at home” in one’s self, in relationships, in space and time, and in the world. Sarah Bush Dance Project innovates traditional modern dance choreography with hip hop dance. In HOME, a musical score ranging from folk to electronic and visual images seamlessly intertwine to illustrate and parallel the variety and differences in human experiences and emotion around the places and states we call HOME. photo by Joshua Klipp
Freeplay Dance Crew & Sarah Bush Dance Project Presents: Dance Mission Theater, San Francisco, CA — March 16-18, 2007 Performed by an ensemble cast, L1FE captures the essence of unity and diversity by fusing choreography and music ranging from hip-hop and modern to classical jazz, and incorporating video into the live performance experience. The intent of L1FE is to engage our community in conversation about the need for global understanding, compassion, and unity. The goal of this production is to inspire audiences to take active steps toward healing the rifts that divide us, both within and without. L1FE will communicate the very intimate yet universally shared emotions that define our human experience—love, loss, the deep and complex stages of grief, and ultimately resolution and hope. This cyclical journey both embodies and reflects a fundamental need for wholeness on a personal as well as a global level. As such, the performance will be an integrative piece that uses diverse styles of movement, music, and media. The unifying vision of this piece is evident as well in the diversity of choreographers and dancers who come together to create it. L1FE is primarily a collaboration between FDC and the Sarah Bush Dance Project, two companies with very distinct backgrounds that share a common dance community, common struggles, and common goals of touching humanity through art. |
